     Introduction

Research work on magnetism and superconductivity has been a corner-stone of the research activity at Southampton for many years. Our studies are rooted in a strong interdisciplinary research program, in collaboration with the Department of Chemistry, the Nanoscale Systems Integration Group (School of Electronics and Computer Sciences), the Computational Engineering and Design Group (School of Engineering Sciences) and the Institute of Cryogenics. This is supported by a number of EPSRC grants and industrial contacts.

Persons interested in postgraduate studies should contact Prof. P. A. J. de Groot .
